Brian A. Hansford

Mr. Hansford is one of the founding partners of the firm, having originally joined Ms. Patterson in private practice in 2000.  After graduating from law school he began his career as a prosecutor and now specializes in all areas of Criminal Law, including sexual offenses, DUI, drug cases, murder cases, family violence, juvenile delinquency cases, and all other general felonies and misdemeanors.  Mr. Hansford believes strongly that all who stand accused of a crime deserve a thorough and zealous defense.

Attorney Profile:
In addition to his duties as a defense attorney, Mr. Hansford also serves as an Associate Judge in the City of Milton Municipal Court and as a part-time Prosecutor with the City of Alpharetta Municipal Court.   He has also previously served as an Assistant Solicitor General in the State Court of Forsyth County, and as the Public Defender in the Lumpkin County Probate and Magistrate Courts.

Mr. Hansford completed his undergraduate degree at North Georgia College and State University, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice.  Subsequently he joined the United States Army and served proudly as a Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division and the XVIII Airborne Corps, at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.  After being honorably discharged, Mr. Hansford obtained his law degree at the John Marshall School of Law in Atlanta Georgia and went on to serve as an Assistant Solicitor General, gaining invaluable prosecutorial and trial experience.  It was while serving as a prosecutor that Mr. Hansford saw the need for people who had been accused of a crime to have access to thorough and zealous legal representation on their behalf.

Mitchell McKinney

Mitchell (Mitch) McKinney is a former Assistant District Attorney and Assistant Solicitor General with over seven years of prosecutorial experience. Mitch spent over two years prosecuting major felonies with the Athens-Clarke County District Attorney's Office before the now retired Senior Superior Court Judge Joseph J. Gaines.  After moving to Forsyth County,  Mitch served as Assistant County Attorney for Forsyth County, Georgia, for three years with the local Cumming law firm of Jarrard & Davis.  He has also functioned as the Assistant Solicitor for the Magistrate Court of Forsyth County for over four years.

Attorney Profile:
After leaving Jarrard & Davis, Mitch became of counsel with Patterson & Hansford in 2005.  His practice includes criminal defense of all persons( felony and misdemeanor criminal defense - including DUI); family law (divorces, child custody and support/alimony modifications, etc.); personal injury; and small business civil litigation. Mitch practices throughout the metro Atlanta area and North Georgia.

Logan Butler

Logan Butler has previously served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Piedmont Judicial Circuit (Barrow, Jackson and Banks counties) and the Bell-Forsyth Judicial Circuit (Forsyth County).  As a prosecutor, Mr. Butler obtained invaluable experience in preparing felony, misdemeanor and juvenile criminal cases for trial and then taking those cases to trial.  Mr. Butler specializes in Criminal Law cases such as crimes of violence, sexual offenses, DUI, drug cases, family violence, assault, battery, murder, juvenile cases and all other felony and misdemeanor criminal offenses.  As your lawyer, Mr. Butler will work with you to prepare your defense and zealously present your case to help ensure the best possible outcome.

Mr. Butler also represents clients in Family Law and Juvenile Law matters such as divorce, child custody and support, alimony, restraining or protective orders and deprivation proceedings.  He works closely with his clients on these matters to develop the most effective trial strategy possible while keeping your best interests in mind.

Mr. Butler graduated from Mars Hill College in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology.  He worked as a biologist helping industry, land owners and land developers navigate the variety of rules and regulations imposed on them by the state and federal governments.  His work as a biologist inspired him to change careers and he enrolled in law school at Georgia State University’s College of Law.  Mr. Butler was a member of the College of Law’s Moot Court and served on the Moot Court Board as Vice President of Appellate Advocacy.  Mr. Butler graduated cum laude and has been a member of the State Bar of Georgia since 2005.
